Congratulations to this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight, Sikiel Graves! Sikiel is the recipient of the 2022-2023 WSGC Modal Propellent Gauging Award.
Sikiel Graves is a rising senior at Carthage College majoring in Physics. These past couple of summers, he has participated in the Carthage Microgravity teams, starting on PROTO and then working on MUD (Microgravity Ullage Detection) this past summer. In high school, he participated in a competition under the ACT-SO organization where he was tasked with researching a topic and writing a paper on it while working alongside a professional in the field of the category he chose. He chose to research “Ligh Pollution’s Effect on Urban Astronomy” and was able to work with Amy Bender, a physicist at Argonne National Laboratory. For this, he received an honorable mention from the state of Illinois. When he isn’t doing physics, he plays on the Carthage football team and is a member of the Carthage Film Association. He also enjoys cooking and gardening in his spare time.
Congratulations, Sikiel, and best of luck in your future!
